About
The Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce (GAAST) was conceived in response to the significant challenges and changes the aviation and aerospace sectors have faced in recent years. The impetus for GAAST's formation came from a critical need identified during the global pandemic, which saw the aviation workforce contract by approximately 43%, equating to a loss of 4.8 million jobs worldwide. The UK Department for Transport, Airports Council International, IATA, and ICCAIA coalesced to form GAAST.
GAAST's mission is to develop and implement a strategic framework that addresses the immediate and long-term skills needs of the aviation and aerospace industries. By fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, the taskforce aims to attract, develop, and retain a skilled, diverse workforce.
GAAST envisions a global aviation and aerospace industry powered by a diverse, skilled, and resilient workforce, capable of adapting to and leading through the sector's evolving demands and challenges.
Five strategic pillars guide our mission to develop a resilient, skilled global workforce.
